Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - out today

Adapted from the video game, this Disney film follows a rebellious prince and princess on their adventures as they attempt to overthrow a ruthless ruler and keep the magic dagger out of evil's hands. The dagger can shift time, making it a very powerful item.

This one should be fantastic fun, so don't miss it.

Clash of the Titans - opening April 2

CGI rich retelling of the stop-motion animation/live action classic, this is the story of Perseus, son of Zeus and his adventures to win the hand of Princess Andromeda. Zeus sets out a series of "impossible" tasks that Perseus must complete. These tasks include capturing the Pegasus, slaying Medusa and stopping Hades and the minions of the Underworld from overtaking the earth.

The original was release in 1981 and featured the work of stop-motion animation master Ray Harryhausen.

Greek mythology has been a popular theme in a lot of metal songs and I am sure that this movie will inspire a new generation of songs. Some examples of metal songs inspired by the Greek myths are:

  • "The Eyes Of Medusa" by Symphony X
  • "Medusa and Hemlock" by Cradle of Filth
  • "And Then There Was Silence" by Blind Guardian
  • "Iphigenia In Hades" by Virgin Steele
  • "Typhon" by Therion
  • most songs by Kronos
  • most songs by Hydra (black metal band from Sweden)
  • several songs by Lair of the Minotaur
  • and many many more
